Studio Miila Hyökki reuses discarded human hair fibers to explore material-driven design.
Each project starts from the physical and emotional qualities of the material, seeking possibilities where hair can be truly useful — valuing its strength, lightness, insulation, absorbency, and human connection. Through research, craft, and storytelling art, the studio gives new life to this overlooked material.
Your plants will love it — the breathable structure allows roots to breathe naturally, while the fibers collect moisture and release it slowly over time.
Beyond function, it is a design object that brings together art and living elements. In feng shui, plants add life and growth, while art shapes the emotional energy of a space. Together, they soften the atmosphere and create balance.
Each planter is a unique, handcrafted piece. The design is made to hold water. Plants are not included and are shown in photos for visual reference only.

is a fertilized plant pot made from human hair, lamb wool, and cement. Research shows that hair fibers help plants grow by gradually releasing nutrients, storing up to 30% water, and improving soil structure through tiny air pockets that let roots spread more easily.
